Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 comes out this week and it will be the first game in the franchise to not include a solo campaign mode.

Instead, developers have focused on multiplayer gameplay including its first Battle Royale mode – Blackout.

The new mode will use the Black Ops combat style but has players fighting on a map with various vehicles and weapons while trying to be the last survivor.

There will be some solo missions but most players will be drawn to the new Battle Royale experience as well as the main multiplayer gameplay and the classic Zombies mode.

When is the Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 release date?

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will be released on Xbox One, PS4 and PC on Friday 12 October 2018.

How to pre-order the game

You can pre-order the digital version of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 directly from the Call of Duty website or from the Xbox One or PS4 stores with the standard version costing £59.99 while the deluxe version is currently priced at £84.99.

Alternatively you can buy it from various online retailers.

GameAmazon and Argos are all selling the standard version of the game for £49.99.

The Pro Edition is currently being sold by retailers for around £99.99.

What are the different versions of the game?

Standard Edition

This version includes a copy of the game as well as access to the PS4 beta that ends on 17th September.

There is also a standard plus edition that includes an exclusive Calling Card and 2 hours of 2XP to help you progress through the game.

Digital Deluxe

Fans can buy a digital version of the game that includes various extra features including 2,400 Call of Duty points and other bonus items.

The digital deluxe version all includes the Black Ops Pass which includes:

  • ‘Classified’: A zombies experience
  • 4 additional zombie experiences
  • 12 multiplayer maps
  • 4 exclusive blackout characters
